Navman S90: Built In Camera

part of our review of the Navman S90 on Monday 9th June 2008

The S90i has a built in 2 megapixel camera which deserves a special mention.

Navman S90 Camera

The camera is part of NavPix, Navman's system of linking photos with navigation. Visit a place, take a photo and alongside it, the system logs your location. Share your pictures via Navman's Navpix website and discover pictures by other users. You can then visit those places.

The camera screen is nice and easy to use as you can see from the picture below. There's only one camera button on the device and that operates the shutter. As you would expect, the camera will give good quality photographs

We believe the S90's party piece lies in the camera. Whilst Navman has marketed the NavPix side, we feel it can also be used as a security and insurance tool. Perhaps your car has been attacked by someone who is enduring a fit of road rage? Perhaps you've witnessed an accident. Perhaps you've had an accident yourself. Pictures are great evidence as it can provide those not at the scene of the event with information about what happened. Pictures can also be used as proof.

You should always carry a disposable camera in your car just in case but the chances are most of us don't. The Navman S90 means you don't have to.
