Binatone Carrera X350 Uk: Screen Photographs

part of our review of the Binatone Carrera X350 Uk on Wednesday 18th June 2008

The Binatone Carrera X350 UK is powered by a Windows CE operating system. Similar to a traditional Windows system, the mapping application needs to be started using the 'navigation' icon below. It should be noted that whilst at this top level, you can use the media player which lets you view images and documents. The media player is not accessible from within the mapping application which does make it feel like it is a last minute add-on but this could simply be due to software limitations by using the CE environment.

The main menu is simple to navigate. The X350 unashamedly has one purpose in life and that is to navigate. You'll find the navigation options easily. Other system features can be found easily though they are buried in another menu level so as to keep the navigation options simple, concise and easy to use.

The Point of Interest (POI) file is comprehensive and well categorised. Another handy feature of the X350 is the stylus shown below. It slides in and out of the bottom right hand corner of the system making it a neat and tidy add-on. Binatone have clearly recognised the limitations of a 3.5 inch screen and have designed the stylus for people who have larger fingers (like us!).

A feature usually found in mid to top range models is itinerary planning. This is where you can plan a trip with multiple stops. This is a great feature especially for holidaying around the British towns and countryside. Enter all your details first thing in the morning and away you go!
