Adding a reversing camera to a satellite navigation system makes so much sense. You've already got a screen in your vehicle so why not add the functionality to convert it into a reversing camera at any moment?

Binatone have done just that. The system itself is wireless and is automatic. Once installed, just select reverse gear and the screen will automatically change from a satellite navigation display to the output from the camera.

Here's how it works.

A wireless transmitter is affixed to the satellite navigation system This talks wirelessly to the reversing camera.

The camera itself can be placed anywhere you want. As it was a demonstration model, we affixed the camera to the parcel shelf in the car. Instructions are supplied with the system on how to install it above or below the rear number plate. It can be located anywhere (within reason) making it an ideal solution for all types of car, van and camper van.

The long cable attached to the camera is wired into your reversing light. It may sound daunting but it's a very easy task which you or your local garage can do for you.

The output is really good quality. Unfortunately we chose to test on a bad overcast day whilst it was raining! The photo fails to show what really could be seen on the screen which was a clear display of grass and a kerb.

Because of our unfortunate photography, a sample photograph in much better conditions has been provided by Binatone which is a more accurate representation of the output.
