Tomtom Go 930 Traffic: Explanation of the Screen

The TomTom Go 930, 730 and 530 all share the same screen layout. If you've used one, you'll feel at home using the others.

Due to the wide resolution of the screen, a lot of information can be displayed on the TomTom Go 930 Traffic without making it appear cluttered. The screen below shows a typical display mid-route:

1. The quick access menu is customisable so you can have quick access to various aspect of the system. We set ours up to have a link to the jukebox (to play MP3 tracks), a report map errors button and the all important mute button for when we need to stop the music quickly.
2. The mileage to the next instruction feature is excellent for motorway journeys! Sometimes you'll want to overtake but you aren't sure how long you've got to the next junction. Perhaps you are in the middle of traffic congestion. If your next instruction is in 5 miles, you've got plenty of time to react.
3. The current instruction panel isn't so helpful as the system barks instructions several times to make sure you have plenty of time to react to the directions. Nevertheless, sometimes it is handy to glance at the current instruction when the voice cannot pronounce name places correctly.
4. Total mileage and time is useful at the start of a trip as it can help you factor in breaks. You should have a break every couple of hours (and there's a function on the Go 930 that will alert you when you should take a break) so it can be handy to prepare where you want to stop.
5. Estimated time of arrival is one of the best features on the 930, especially if you use your TomTom for business purposes. Imagine being able to phone a client and saying you'll be there at 1230hrs with a high probability of actually being there at that time? If you're on the road a lot and need to be at meetings with clients, this is an invaluable tool.
6. Current speed is okay but we found it was 3 mph out on the motorway.
7. Time is useful too, especially if your car hasn't got a clock or, like ours, you can't change the time on it! One thing that would be a cut amongst the rest would be a thermometer to show the temperature in the vehicle as not all cars have this snazzy feature!
8. Next instruction is another handy bit of information. As you get closer to an instruction, the distance disappears, replaced with arrows to inform what manoeuvres are soon required and in which direction:
