Navman S30 3d: Differences Between the S30 and S30 3D
part of our review of the Navman S30 3d on Tuesday 11th November 2008
There are a couple of minor changes between the S30 and S30 3D.
No Drawstring Bag
The bag has been ditched, which is sad to see. Whilst it's not a turn-off, it would have been nice to have retained the generosity not exhibited by other manufacturers.
3D Maps
These are pictures overlaid onto the maps showing major landmarks. The closest we got to seeing these was the cover of the box. There obviously weren't any significant landmarks upon our journey and so this gimmick / feature is primarily targetted at those who travel to major cities (i.e. inner-city London) regularly.

Nevertheless, the maps would have been updated since the release of the S30 so whilst the offer of 3D functionality may not suit everyone, the up-to-date maps will.
Price
Ultimately the S30 has been discontinued in favour of the S30 3D. There is not be too much of a difference between the two and so it may simply come down to a choice between prices. For a while, the S30 will go down in price as the stocks dwindle and the soar as it becomes difficult to acquire. Contrasting this, the S30 3D appears to be currently available at a lower price than the S30, making this the obvious choice.
